Louis Armstrong International Airport (LAIA)
New Orleans, Louisiana
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Okrent Associates was one of several consultants retained by the New Orleans Aviation Board to develop a vision of how the 1250-acre LAIA airport site could be redeveloped for non-aviation uses were aviation operations to be relocated elsewhere in the region. Staubach, a commercial real estate and consulting firm, evaluated the local real estate market to determine types of development that might eventually emerge on the site. Using that information, Okrent Associates prepared a development program and conceptual development plans that offered a framework for the organization of these uses within the post-airport property.
